router support guide. It is designed to enable you easily reset your wirelessrouter's password without going through a round of troubles and hassles.
Whenever you
have lost access to your existing password, reset it to the default one. So,
here we have assumed that you already know what your default password is. If
you have some doubt, refer to your router's original documentation. You can
also visit your router manufacturer's website and look for the default password
and username information for your router model.
Here is a word
of caution for you and that is this procedure involves hard resetting the
router. It erases all your existing settings and configurations for a wired or
wireless connection. Since you will have to start from the scratch after
resetting the router, you must back up or save your existing router settings
before beginning.
Let's begin!
Locate the Reset button, a tiny hole (see the picture) on your router. It will
be at the back of your router. Take a sharp object like pen or paper clip and
insert it into the Reset hole (as shown in the picture). Press the button and
hold for 20-30 seconds. Release it afterwards. You will see that all the light
on the router will flicker and then turn off and come back on. Let the router
reboot fully.
When done, open
your internet browser and type IP address of your router in the address bar.
Hit the Enter key to continue. It will take you to the router login page. Enter
the default username and password for your router and hit the Enter key. You
can also click on the Login or Submit button whatever you see on the screen to
continue instead of hitting the Enter key. When in the router setup utility,
restore all your previous configurations to start using a wired or wireless
connection. You can also now change your default password to a preferred one.
The IP address
for a router can be anything from '192.168.1.1', '192.168.2.1', '192.168.10.1',
'192.168.0.178', to '10.0.0.138/ ' etc. The first 2 IP addresses are universal
in most of the router makes. Some router makes and models may have different IP
address as specified by their manufacturers. You can refer to your router's
documentation or website for the IP address information. As far as the default
username and password are concerned, a large number of router models use
'admin' and 'password' alternatively. Yet again, you must check your router's
manual for the information.
